Lorenzo Gariano's Seven Summits Challenge | Antarctica and the Vinson Massif

LATEST NEWS: Lorenzo has summited Vinson Massif!

As the final part of his Seven Summits challenge, Lorenzo Gariano has now set off to climb Vinson Massif on the massive ice continent of Antarctica, starting December 2008. Markers on these maps [did] show his progress - click on any one for extra information.

With this climb complete, Lorenzo has become a member of the elite 'Seven Summits Club' - those who have climbed the highest mountain on each of the world seven continents. He is also only the third Italian to do so (after Reinhold Messner and Giuseppe Pompili).
